Roli Mathur

Dr. Mathur is Scientist ‘G’ and Head of the ICMR Bioethics Unit in Bangalore, India, and a Professor, Medical Research at the Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research, New Delhi. She is also a Director for the WHO Collaborating Centre for Strengthening Bioethics and presently chairs the WHO Global Network of Bioethics. She is an Advisor to the National Ethics Committee Registry and Member Secretary of the Central Ethics Committee which serves as the National Ethics Committee. She was awarded a WHO fellowship in Bioethics and Ethics Committee Administration and trained as an international surveyor for ethics committees. As a member of several expert groups, she has contributed to various WHO and CIOMS initiatives leading to the development of guidelines and policies. In India she has led the development of numerous national research ethics policies including the National Ethical Guidelines and also led multicentric National Task Force studies in Human Genetics. She is the Editor of Biomedical Ethics Perspectives in the Indian Context (2022) and has been recognized as one of the top scientists at ICMR.
