Kiran Musunuru

Kiran Musunuru, M.D., Ph.D., M.P.H., M.L., is a Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and Genetics at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. A practicing cardiologist and dedicated educator, his research focuses on the genetics of heart disease, specifically identifying genetic factors that protect against disease to develop new therapies. Dr. Musunuru has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, the American Heart Association's Award of Meritorious Achievement, and the Judson Daland Prize from the American Philosophical Society. He is a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation and the Association of American Physicians. Additionally, he serves on the NIH National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute Advisory Council and the Board of Directors of the American Society of Human Genetics. He is co-founder and Senior Scientific Advisor of Verve Therapeutics and has authored books on gene editing, including The CRISPR Generation and Genome Editing: A Practical Guide.
