Fyodor Urnov

Fyodor Urnov, Ph.D., is a Professor of Molecular Therapeutics at UC Berkeley and Scientific Director at the Innovative Genomics Institute (IGI). A pioneer in genome and epigenome editing, he co-developed the foundational tools of human genome editing and played a key role in advancing its first clinical applications. His work contributed to identifying the genome editing target for an approved treatment for sickle cell disease and beta-thalassemia. Committed to expanding access to CRISPR-based therapies, he leads the Danaher-IGI Beacon for CRISPR Cures, an academia-industry partnership dedicated to developing scalable CRISPR treatments for immune system diseases.
