Jane Qiu

Jane Qiu is an award-winning independent science writer based in Beijing, contributing to publications such as Nature, Science, Scientific American, National Geographic, STAT, and MIT Technology Review. A former Knight Science Journalism Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, she’s known not only for bringing a rare blend of scientific insights, critical thinking, and storytelling skills to her work, but for providing a much-needed perspective on science in Asia, including politically sensitive topics such as the CRISPR-babies scandal and the origins of COVID-19. Her work has earned recognition with awards from the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Association of Health Care Journalists, the Association of British Science Writers, the South Asian Journalists Association, and the Asia Environmental Journalism Awards.
